Planned Breeding Announcement

To Everyone I have met, written and/or spoken to over the last few years, I would like to announce the “Planned Breeding” that has taken place.

My interest in studying Riesenschnauzer pedigrees began in 1997.

The last few years evolved with several people studying Riesenschnauzer Pedigrees with the same goal in mind.

This direction for us has taken many hours of research, hashing over ideas of what the pedigree talks about in print.   Then pursuing next stages ie: work ethic, health status, certificates/titles/ratings of each dog/bitch.    Then questioning what if we do this and this happens or what if we do that and this happens….

This Direction is to preserve the History of our Breed by opening up the gene pool.

The main breeding program focus is to not Double -Up on Ali.   In this particular combination, there is no Ali.

Our goal is to expand the already shrinking gene pool.   This will take many years by many people putting in an enormous and costly effort to do so.

I wanted to share this experience with you.   I will not post anything on the website until we have confirmed the pregnancy through ultrasound.

I want to Special Thank;  Andreas, Bonnie Sue, Chris, Irina, Mario, Matvey,  Martha, Renate, Robin, Robin, Siem, Suzannah, Tini, Wilfred, Yadi.

Chris and Tini communicated with Andreas Radtke, the owner of the stud dog in Germany.

The stud dog that I chose for this breeding needed to be collected.   He did not have stored semen.

The Process began (my first experience, since – my previous two surgical AI breeding experiences, the semen was already frozen for a period of time)…

…Chris communicated with Dr.’s from the Reproduction Clinic in Germany.   We learned about the procedure of collecting, freezing, thawing, testing and shipping semen.

…I was and still am working with the AKC in the area of DNA Testing procedures with dogs from other countries.

… Tini drove about 100 Km one way to pick up the dog to then drive to the clinic for collection.   This happened 3 x ‘s before a motility rate was met.

Next, I had a tank sent to Germany from U.S. for collection of the frozen straws.  I authorized the tank to be sent to Germany uncharged.

In Germany, the tank was charged before shipment of frozen straws.

Straws arrived in U.S.

Bitch came into heat…fortunately she held out or plan “B” was next heat cycle.

Progesterone Testing began Brier’s 4th Day of her heat cycle.   Continued by 8th day, 10th,  11th, 13th, 15th, 16th, and on final day of insemination, 18th.

Here in Florida, three clinics were involved in this process as the Best Clinic for Insemination was 4 hrs away travel time.   Progesterone testing was done on both Florida coasts.

8 Progesterone Tests were taken, not much different than this bitch’s first time with progesterone testing followed w/surgical implant in December, 2004.

Surgery took place on the 18th day of heat cycle.
